Hey You Old Bag

The problem: Cheap black bag that is still very functional but the plastic handles have started to snap and crack.

The dilemma: Can’t give it to charity as it is damaged. Also, the bag part itself is absolutely fine. What do I do with it as surely the handles will eventually snap?

The solution: Customise the bag. Sew on a number of buttons, to change the appearance and freshen it up. An old scarf from a local charity shop was a great find to make new handles. Simply enough, the scarf was cut in two, and wound around the existing handles to reinforce them.

The result: A customised bag that has been saved from landfill. Hoorah. Easy to re-customise again when bored with bag again.

Total cost: £1.50 for scarf (to charity.)
Time took: 1 hour.

Feel great.

Nice. So few people take the time to do this kind of thing - I blame it on the death of 'domestic science' at school. :)

Dear Daisy...

I have two pairs of knickers - horrid pairs - but with the tags still on. Given to me as a very unthoughtful present! Blurghhhh!!!

I'm unsure of whether or not I can take them to a charity shop or not. If not I just don't know what I can do with them...

Any suggestions?

1.Is there anyone you can give them to?!! (although you may not be very popular if they are that bad!)
2.have you tried taking them back to the shop and saying they were bought as a present therefore no receipt. If they have got the tags on you might get away with getting a bredit note.
3. Customise them to make them pretty.
4.The last time I was in a charity shop they did have underwear but mainly bra's. They might take knickers with tags on.. but you probably would have to ask them.

Any of this helpful?
